The CPA Institute is a strong advocate of CPE. From 2007 the institute reinforced mandatory Continuing Professional Education (CPE) programme for all members. The CPE requirement ensures that members maintain their existing technical skills and knowledge to the highest level, acquire new skills, and professional skills, and advance their personal development throughout their careers. The continuing development of core technical and professional skills is crucial in today’s business environment. Legislation is constantly changing, financial instruments are becoming increasingly sophisticated and international convergence of standards is taking place. Government is one of the users of financial instruments. Accounting for these requires their adequate understanding.

To cope with these demands, the CPA Institute is developing a high-quality CPE programme for its members. This programme, focusing on a broad range of topics from auditing to information technology, will be delivered initially in Harare and Bulawayo depending on numbers or viability of the location to breakeven. This is being done in the form of briefings, full-day seminars, and residential programmes and conferences.

CPE is, of course, also available online in the form of material disseminated to members through email so that members can continue their professional development almost anytime and anywhere.
